Sabah State Museum

Located in a complex that includes a heritage village and an ethno-botanical garden, this museum showcases Sabah’s history, culture, and natural history.
Around the vicinity of the museum there is the Science and Technology Centre and Sabah Art.

The main building is inspired and based on the architecture of Murut and Rungus longhouses. Here you will find a central exhibition hall and six galleries with a rich collection of tribal and historical artifacts, relating to the people of Borneo, but also human skulls from Sabah´s headhunting past. You can also find an exhibitions as well as a multivision theatre.

Within the complex there is also a coffee-shop and a restaurant that we can recommend.


Sabah Art Gallery

Showcases contemporary art from local and regional artists in a unique, energy-efficient building.

North Borneo Train Tour

Not a traditional museum, but offers a historical train ride through scenic landscapes, providing insights into Sabah’s colonial past.


Petagas War Memorial

Commemorates those who died defending Sabah during World War II. The site includes a small museum with wartime artifacts.
